About the Author

Kerry Nichols is an attorney turned dog breeder and the founder of Nicholberry Goldens, a small family kennel in Clovis, California. Committed to breeding Goldens with the strictest adherence to health standards, Kerry also focuses on raising emotionally resilient, well-balanced puppies who become beloved family members. She has been breeding Golden Retrievers for over a decade, and since 2013, she has opened the virtual doors to the whelping box, offering her massive audience of “virtual breeders” a daily dose of puppy cuteness and fascinating information on puppy development. Among the notable owners of Goldens she has bred and raised are the founder of Tinder and executives from Oprah, Facebook, and Microsoft. Her dogs can sometimes be glimpsed on Hollywood sets, both in front of and behind the cameras.

One of the best books for anyone getting or breeding puppies!!

This author, first and forestmost, focuses on puppies and seeing the world through their eyes. She is teaching her readers what it is like for the puppies and their safety in this big old world. It's not about us humans and what we think the puppies should feel and do or about being the "alpha or controlling " them. She does not claim to know it all. She in fact, is constantly learning to better her own learning.

If you are a breeder and want to have resilient and happy puppies follow her first 8 weeks of puppy. I can personally say it works. I've done it with my last litter and those puppies are so resilient to everything and fear very little.

If you are getting a new puppy, read this book. The author helps you get ready for your puppy. How to prepare for bringing him home. How to make a safe environment for them and help them make only good choices. How to introduce them to other pets and kids.

Yes this book has lots of pictures of Golden Retriever puppies and yes this author raises Goldens. But this book is for ALL BREEDS and ALL puppies.

This author cares about puppies and only wants the best for them. Her writing is clear, straight forward and is very easy to understand. She shares stories with us. She shares her ups and downs with raising puppies.

I highly recommend this book to everyone.
