About the Author

Rand Burkert was born in Wisconsin and has lived with his family in Umbria, Italy, and currently on the Cape Cod peninsula. He is a writer, folksinger, and teacher of applied ecology and organic farming at Nauset Regional Middle School. His previous book for children, Mouse and Lion, was illustrated by Nancy Ekholm Burkert.Chris Raschka has illustrated more than forty books for children. He won the 2006 Caldecott Medal for The Hello, Goodbye Window and the 2012 Caldecott Medal for A Ball for Daisy. In 2012 and 2016, he was the US nominee for the international Hans Christian Andersen Medal for illustration. He lives in New York City.
